Fleet Management

Fleet Management plays vital role in transportation industries. In today’s world fleet management is challenging job due to incremental increase on fuel cost, maintenance cost, product safety, require to delivers the services in stipulated time to the customers. New technologies helping fleet operators/transporters address these areas to improve fleet performance and customer satisfactions.

The new evolve technologies provide insights for vehicle management, route determinations, vehicle tracking, telematic and smart surveillance. Also, these technologies capable of micromanagement such as driver behavior, fuel economy, fuel consumption, Millage covered, speed, tire pressure alerts, vehicle maintenance alerts. These information provide valuable insights for fleet management.

The advance technologies like Global positioning system (GPS) helps to track the vehicles remotely and determining the location. This real time data helps for monitoring and performance analysis. A GPS tracking system uses the Global Navigation Satellite System (GNSS) network. This network incorporates a range of satellites that use microwave signals that are transmitted to GPS devices to give information on location, vehicle speed, time and direction. So, a GPS tracking system can potentially give both real-time and historic navigation data on any kind of journey.

The other advance technology like Remote Vehicle Disabling System (RVDS) provide ability to authorize users to prevent the engine from starting , prevent movement of vehicle and stop or slow an operating vehicle. Few systems provides advance notifications to the drivers about vehicle disabling. After stopping the vehicle, it will not allow to restart the engine for certain time period. Fleet operators or transporters can avoid vehicle theft with remote vehicle disabling systems (RVDS) that can stop engines from starting, and stop or slow down moving vehicle The most important part in vehicle disabling system is hardware system and driver authentication is important parameter to drive this. Biometric smart card is most of the common used technology for authentication which is carried out by driver. RVDS can be integrated with many other features like temperature sensors, electronic cargo seals, door sensors, cargo sensors, trailers connection and disconnection systems . Additional advance sensors like in load volume, door status, exposure to radiation.
